Jacob and Rachel Rudnick are homeschooling parents of four young children, the proud owners of a milk cow and chickens. They live on 3.5 acres, ten minutes down the road from where Jacob grew up roaming the mountains, playing in the irrigation ditch beds, and helping his cowboy father.
Jacob is a credentialed teacher, having taught fulltime in the classroom at both elementary and middle school levels, and formerly was the director of the local afterschool program.
Rachel is a homemaker, cheese and butter maker, sourdough baking, former Records Manager, from Ontario, Canada. She grew up in a rural community surrounded by corn and alfalfa fields. Her first job as an eleven year old was on a dairy farm caring for calves.
Jacob and Rachel believe children require lots of outdoor time where they can explore and become grounded in the earth and its cycles. Education is about nourishing the soul, not simply the giving over of facts, and hopefully grows the child’s curiosity and sense of awe.
Their children are being raised to help with the daily chores: the planting of gardens, the harvesting of food, the maintenance of trees, and the caretaking of animals.
Jacob and Rachel are very excited to share their passions with their homeschooling community, and build up a generation of skilled, reliable, healthy individuals.
