TK-12th grade drop off program

Students will be exposed to tools based on age and skill level: hammers, saws, drills, and screw drivers; trimmers and clippers; shovels, rakes, and pitchforks; and lawnmowers and electric chain saws.
Students will learn to care for gardens, taking part in weeding, hoeing, seeding, watering, and transplanting, learning plant identification along the way. Eventually Where Seedlings Grow will have its own student garden and pumpkin patch from which a farmer’s market stand can be run, and vegetables can be taken home.
Students will take part in farm and garden infrastructure projects such as building chicken runs and coops, improving greenhouse operations, and maintaining the shade house.
Students will be exposed to animal care in the form of a milk cow, sheep, chickens, and cats.
Students will be led on local hikes and nature walks, as well as have time to explore the garden and play games as a group.
Students will learn camping skills like starting and putting out a fire, cooking on an open flame, packing a hiking bag, and general first aid.
Students will engage with their learning through the keeping of individual field journals. Guided group reading will be part of the offering, where students explore different literature that relates to farming, gardening, and appreciating nature.
